How Does Canada’s Government Bureaucrat Strike Affect Cannabis?

Note: while preparing this article, the Public Service Alliance of Canada reached a tentative contract agreement with the Treasury Board. However, this agreement does not cover all striking workers. How does Canada’s government bureaucrat strike affect cannabis? Canada is facing the largest federal work strike since 1991. The public sector union representing 155,000 bureaucrats wants a 13.5% raise over three years (despite losing nothing from the past three years of government-ordered shutdowns of the private sector). They also want “work […]

CannaTravel – Singapore: Pros and Cons

CannaTravel – Singapore: Pros and Cons. Because when it comes to Singapore, there are 100 reasons to go and even stay. But for cannabis consumers, there are two substantial problems. And that’s putting it lightly. One, they have the death penalty. No state has the right to kill you. Second, their drug war is murderous. Literally. B.C. Throws Money at Indigenous Cannabis Industry

The B.C. government plans to throw $2.3 million taxpayer dollars at the province’s Indigenous cannabis industry. The announcement comes a few days after a First Nations group called for Cannabis Act reforms. Concerning the Indigenous cannabis industry, while the B.C. government pays lip service to Indigenous sovereignty, their actions have been all over the map. On the one hand, you’ve got legal retailers suing the government over lack of enforcement on First Nation reserves. And on the other hand, you’ve […]

Trulieve Reveals True Colors of DEI

Florida-based medical cannabis company Trulieve has revealed the true colors of DEI, or “diversity, equity, and inclusion.” DEI is a conceptual framework that claims to promote fair treatment by addressing individuals as members of a group. If said group has been historically oppressed or underrepresented, individuals belonging to the group are prioritized in terms of employment or access to resources. The goal, claims its advocates, is to level the playing field so we’re all equal and our institutions are diverse […]

An Anti-Monopoly Cannabis Toolkit?

If one were to create an anti-monopoly cannabis toolkit, what would it look like? Fortunately, we don’t have to speculate. Parabola Center, a nonprofit think tank, has produced an anti-monopoly cannabis toolkit for us. Of course, “woman of color” comprise this so-called “nonpartisan” group who want to “prioritize people over profits.”  So you can be sure this toolkit will be less about cannabis liberalization and more about specific laws that – they feel – should be enacted.  While the think […]

Health Canada Wants Feedback on Cannabis Act Amendments

Health Canada wants feedback on possible Cannabis Act amendments. This proposal is separate from the federal government’s legislative review of the Cannabis Act.  The Cannabis Act, of course, legalizes and regulates cannabis in Canada.  Health Canada put out a notice of intent for consultation. The purpose is to “inform Canadians and interested parties that Health Canada is seeking feedback on potential amendments to the Cannabis Regulations (CR) for regulatory burden reduction while still addressing public health and public safety risks.” […]

Is Justin Trudeau’s Government Legitimate?

Is Justin Trudeau’s government legitimate? Last year, the Canadian prime minister dismissed reports that the Chinese funnelled money into Liberal Party candidates. “I do not have any information, nor have I been briefed on any federal candidates receiving any money from China,” Justin Trudeau told the press. But then a whistleblower in CSIS (Canada’s version of the CIA) revealed the truth: the cabinet had been briefed “multiple times” on the dangers of Chinese electoral interference. So will Canadians get a […]
